Opal Christine Lauver, 86, of Asheville, died Friday, September 20, 2013, at the Laurels of Summit Ridge.
A native of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the late Phillip and Josephine Morgan Moore. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Guiles Emerson Lauver.
Mrs. Lauver was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. She volunteered at the VA for many years, and was a former member of the Lions Club. She was a member of The Place Fellowship Church in Swannanoa, and also at Morningside Baptist Church.
She is survived by step-daughter Nancy Bennett and husband Dick; 2 step-grandchildren; 4 step-great grandchildren; nieces Carolyn Green and husband Alvin, and Rosalie (DeeDee) Anderson and husband Mike; great-nephew Taylor Anderson; and other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 on Friday at the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery, with the Rev. Mike Anderson officiating.
The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff of the Laurels of Summit Ridge.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Place Fellowship Church, PO Box 1174, Swannanoa, NC 28778.
