Owen Shelton Mills, 68, of 6 Pickwick Road, Asheville, died Thursday, April 19, 2001, at the Hospice Solace Center.

Mr. Mills was born in Jacksonville, FL, and had lived in Buncombe County for eighteen years. He was a master automobile body mechanic and was shop manager for Buddy Roberts Paint and Body Shop in Asheville. His favorite (and quite accomplished) hobby was rebuilding and restoring classic cars and trucks. He was married to Frances Mary Fleck Mills who died August 26, 2000.

He is survived by one daughter, Darlene Moore of Asheville (formerly of Arlington, VA); two sisters, Jo Condaxis and her husband Peter of Jacksonville, FL and Rita Ash of Tampa, FL.

Funeral services will be at 4:00 pm Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with Chaplain Jane Curran officiating.

His family will receive friends immediately following the service.
