Paul Maloy Martin

PAUL M. MARTIN, SR. Paul Maloy Martin, Sr. 88, of 29 Tryon St, Asheville, died Sunday, September 16, 2007, at an Asheville Health Care Center. A Union, SC native Mr. Martin was a son of the late Fred E. and Florence Harrison Martin. He was the husband of the late Naomi Rash Martin who died in 2002. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Sparrow, two brothers James and LeRoy Martin. Mr. Martin was a retired Supervisor with 40 years service from the American Enka Corp. He attended Grace Baptist Church. Mr. Martin is survived by two daughters and sons in law: Sherry and David Gryle of Arden, and Sheila and Terry Ponder of Leicester. A son and daughter in law Paul Jr. and Sheila Martin of Asheville; eight grandchildren Tim Gryle, Jon Gryle, Scott Martin, Matthew Gryle, Shannon Messer, Greg Martin, Jeremy McElrath, and Britani Gillespie: and four great grandchildren Marissa, Ally and Avery Messer, and Brayden Martin. A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Adkisson and Rev. Ricky Townsend officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be grandsons. The family will receive friends at the funeral home an hour prior to the service. The family wishes to thank the staff of Aston Health Care Center for the care of their father during the time he was there.
