Paul Ray Ellis

Asheville - Paul Ray Ellis, 65, of Overlook Road, died Sunday, May 2, 1999.
A native of Mitchell County, he was the son of Fern Marie Ray Ellis of Asheville and of the late Paul James Ellis and was husband of the late Annie Joyce Ellis who died in 1984. He lived most of his life in Asheville where he graduated from Oakley High School and attended Asheville - Biltmore College after serving in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the US Postal service following 28 years of service and was a member of the US Postal Association.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter Paula Montgomery of Asheville; two step-children, Yvonne Varnes of Asheville, Bobby Toothman of Morgantown, West Virginia; two sisters, Barbara Davis of Winston-Salem, Judie Woody of Murphy; a brother James E. Ellis of Asheville and nine grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 pm in the chapel of the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain conducted by Chaplain David Blackmon. The family will receive friends following the service.
