Peggy Robinson Gilbert, 64, of 335 Brevard Rd., Asheville, died on Sunday, May 11, 2008, at her home.
A native of Buncombe Co., Mrs. Gilbert was a daughter of the late Lewis and Christine Moore Robinson.
Mrs. Gilbert worked as a CNA at Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community and at the WNC Baptist Home. She was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church.
Mrs. Gilbert is survived by her husband, Tony Gilbert; daughters, Angela Cox and husband Jay, of Darlington, SC, Tina Wood and husband Zach, of Asheville; sons, John Gilbert and wife Tammy, and Eric Gilbert and wife Michelle, all of Asheville; sister, Louise Shipman, of Asheville; grandchildren, Jake and Jordan Cox, Kayla and Tyler Gilbert, and C.J. Wood; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Mrs. Gilbert will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Sunrise Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Higgins and Keith Acker officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
The family gives special thanks to Dr. Kelli Condra and staff, Dr. Barton Paschal and staff, and Dr. Eric Rhoton.

Thru the years I worked with Peggy the one thing I know for sure is that she loved her family more than anyhing. Her pride and love for all of you was very evident in her everyday life. Peggy was a good friend to me, and I will miss her.

I can’t believe that your mom has passed away. I am so sorry. I know what your mom means to you. You have her strength and courage. Anyone who can pick up and move away like you did is beyond me. You made a grown-up decision at a young age. You had an offer, you took it and it is apparent that things worked out for you in S. C. This just reinterates what a tough and an independent lady you are. You have your mom’s smile and her heart. You can tell by her picture. I remember you and your mom always saying ‘be careful’ before I would leave. It drove me crazy way back then but I learned to appreciate the caring and meaning of that phrase.
You will always have a special place in my heart. Again, I am so sorry. Give your family my condolences.

Dear Tony & Family, We were so sorry to read of Peggy’s death in the Asheville paper. We will never forget the many Post Office events that we went to, and you and Peggy would be there too. We became good friends and shared good times together, along with the other Post Office friends. Mike enjoyed serving in the Union with you too.
