Peggy Williams Shepherd, 87, of Asheville, died on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals.
A lifelong resident of Oakley, Peggy was a daughter of the late Edna Williams. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Troy Joseph Shepherd, who died in 1987.
She attended Oakley School, then later worked at Sayles Bleachery and in the business office of Memorial Mission Hospital. In her free time, Peggy enjoyed collecting antique and attending garage and rummage sales.
She is survived by her daughter, Roxanne Shepherd, and several cousins.
A graveside service for Mrs. Shepherd will be on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

Roxanne I knew Peggy and Joe Shepherd in the 60’s when I was employed at Grants in Westgate Shopping Center. We all went bowling after work on Saturday’s and I sure have some fond memories of both of them. I hope this is the right shepherds and sad too for our loss.
