Phyllis shared 59 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Leon Stewart. She was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Shannon Boyd (Mike) and Monica Stewart. Nothing brought her greater joy than caring for her grandchildren, Caleb Branch and Caitlin Caldwell (Dustin), and her great-grandchildren, Noblely, Eli, Havana, Autumn, and Paxton.

She retired from Buncombe County as a Supervisor over Adult Medicaid with the Department of Health and Human Services, where she faithfully served her community with compassion and integrity. Her work reflected her heart for helping others.

A dedicated member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church, Phyllis lived a life devoted to the Lord. Her faith guided her daily actions, shaped her character, and sustained her through every season of life. She was a woman of quiet strength, steady kindness, and enduring grace.

Phyllis leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion to family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, yet her influence will continue to live on in the lives she touched and the family she so faithfully nurtured.

  5. I worked with Phyllis at DSS for many years in addition to going to church with her. She was always a pleasure to be around, always smiling and had compassion for those in need. I pray that God will give each of you peace and comfort in the coming days. Your comfort will come in knowing that she is in Heaven and no longer suffering.
