Robert Green “R.G.” Jackson, 94, of Candler, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the CarePartners Solace Center.

Born on December 27, 1930, in Thorn Hill, TN, he was the son of the late Fred and Sarah Stapleton Jackson. He was a proud Army veteran having served in the Korean War. He enjoyed a 35-year career with American Enka before retiring in 1986. He and his wife, Audrey, were longtime members of West Asheville Baptist Church.

In retirement, R.G. enjoyed golf, fishing, and gardening. He was an avid fan of University of Tennessee sports and Atlanta Braves baseball. He and Audrey enjoyed travel and spent many happy days exploring the Great Smoky Mountains and the Gulf Coast of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ova Faye Jackson and Ruby Johnson; son-in-law, Charles E. McKay, III; and a very special granddog, Barney.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Audrey Revis Jackson, and daughter, Tammy Jackson McKay, both of Candler; sister, Bernice Jackson Miller, of Johnson City, TN; nieces, Jane Mustain (Eric), of Johnson City, and Annis Evans (Stephen), of Blountville, TN; and two great-nieces.

His family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Ave. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. The Rev. Tony Hooper will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will then take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to West Asheville Baptist Church, 926 Haywood Rd., Asheville, NC 28806, or to ABCCM, 1845 Brevard Rd., Arden, NC 28704.
