Richard Cornelius Parham, 81, of 55 Clarendon Avenue, Asheville, died Monday, September 23, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Parham was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and was a son of the late Henry B. and Carrie Rhymer Parham. He was married for 58 years to Anna Matilda Parham who died in 1999.
He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater with the US Army during WW II and retired from Stencel Aero Engineering Corp. in 1985. He then operated Parham’s Foundry and most recently worked at Grovewood Galleries, where he started as his first job as a teenager when it was Biltmore Industries.
He is survived by two daughters, Martha Drake and Kathleen Webb of Asheville; a sister, Hazel Fore of Arden; four grandchildren, Lee Rice, Jamie Rice, Dell Bartlett and Brian Webb, and four great-grandchildren, Jake Rice, Justine Rice, Blane Rice, and Anna Nicole Bartlett.
Military services will be conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council at 10:00 am Friday in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.

I am sorry I never got to know Mr. Parnham, but Dell showed me the memories that he left you. These are a real treasure. I will miss seeing him at the Grovewood and send you all sincere condolences.
