Richard Henry Isaac, Sr.
October 18, 1921 ~ February 24, 2002

A native of Catawba County, he had lived in Asheville for 70 years and was a son of the late Quinton H. and Essie Hollar Isaac. He served in the Army Air Corps during WW II where he was stationed in Deopham Green, England, as a Bronze Star recipient and member of the 452nd Bomb Group.
He was retired after 45 years as an engineer with the Bridge Department of the NC Department of Transportation. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Pansy “Pat” Williams Isaac; two daughters, Glenna Isaac Vasoli of Lansdale, PA and Patricia Ann Isaac of Asheville; one son, Richard Henry Isaac, Jr., of Morganton; two sisters, Cora Lee Blaylock of Spartanburg and Teenie Isaac Smathers of Asheville; one brother, Glenn L. Isaac of Spartanburg; and four grandchildren, Angela Vasoli, Christopher Vasoli, Brittany Isaac, and Gabrielle Isaac.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Nieting officiating. Burial will be at Pisgah View Memorial Park.
His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue and request that memorials be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church/School/Vision 2010, 51 Wilburn Place, Asheville, NC 28806, or to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.

I’m truley sorry to hear Mr.Isaac passed a way, he was a good friend and supervisor during the time I work in Asheville. My prayers go out to the family. He was truly a family man who thought so much of everyone around him!
