Richard Palmer Jolly

Richard Palmer Jolly, 85, of 186 Springdale Dr., Asheville, formerly of Whiteville, NC, died Friday, May 12, 2000 in a local hospital. A native of Columbus Co., he was the son of the late Needham Seymour and Amanda Floyd Jolly. He was a retired tobacco grower, grocer and nurseryman, and was a life long member of Pleasant Plains Baptist Church in Whiteville, NC. He is survived by his wife, Laura Hardie Jolly; a daughter, Barbara Dyson and her husband Charles; grandchildren, Laura Monroe, Chuck Dyson and Amanda Dyson and six great-grandchildren all of Asheville. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 17, 2000 at Pleasant Plains Baptist Church with Dr. David B. Heller officiating. His family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pleasant Plains Baptist Church, 31 Pleasant Plains Church Rd., Whiteville, NC 28472. Groce Funeral Home, Patton Avenue, is assisting the family.
