Richard Vance Smith, 69, of Simpsonville, SC, died on Thursday, June 14, 2012.
A native of Buncombe Co., Mr. Smith was a son of the late Furman and Cartie Elledge "Cleo" Smith. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, William A. and George R. Smith.
Mr. Smith was a retired truck driver. He loved fishing, and loved car racing, especially watching his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt, Sr. He was a longtime member of Corinth Baptist Church.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Ula Sealey Smith; sons, Richard David Smith and wife Cindy, of Leicester, William Wiley Smith and wife Kethong, of Simpsonville, and Kenneth Wayne Smith, of Leicester; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service for Mr. Smith will be on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Marvin Mathis officiating.
His family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave.
