Rita O. (Pete) Laudenslager, 65, died on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012. She was born in Buncombe County, the daughter of the late Charles Robert Ownbey and Hilda Morgan Ownbey. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8:00 p.m. at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. H.D. Houck officiating. Burial will follow at Acton United Methodist Church Cemetery. Surviving are her husband, Jim Laudenslager; brother, C.A. Ownbey and wife, Sally of Fairview, NC. She was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Ownbey Ebernickel and her brother, Larry Charles Ownbey.

    And thanks so much for taking care of big Jim over all these years. He was my Best Man (twice!)and loved you ever so much. You gave us both many great memories, and made life special for all those around you, especially Jim.

    You are painfully missed, already, and will be missed for a very long time.

    My mom told me about Pete. I am so sorry for your loss. Take comfort in wonderful memories together. I know my mom has many fond memories with the two of you and I will always have my video of the Morton parade thanks to you! May you find some comfort in knowing she is at peace.
