Bob was born in Buffalo New York to Milton and Marion Langenfeld on November 11th 1954. He grew up in Buffalo and as a young man moved to Texas where he began working as a laborer for a stone mason and soon became a brick layer himself. He took a part time job driving a van for the West Texas Boys Ranch where he found his true calling and began his life long career helping troubled children, fostering and later with disabled adults. Bob settled in Asheville NC for most of his adult life and called it home. Over the last few years he was teaching the skills he had learned over the years and was excited and proud of his new adventure.

He married Paula Bradley his beloved wife on August 17th 2018. In which he found a wife, stepson, grandson and family that loved him dearly. Having only a short time of 4 years, where he found contentment and happiness.

Bob also had a life long passion for weight lifting and body building which he started as a young teenager and continued throughout his life with many awards and even taking 1st place in all categories just last year.

Mostly, Bob had a passion and love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Through many trials and tribulations he always turned to God and was ready to share his testimony. He fought a good fight and peaceably went to Heaven to be with the Lord also his Mom and Dad that he missed deeply.

He is survived by his wife, Paula Bradley; a daughter, Chanel Shaffer; two sons, Michael Langenfeld and Nicholas Bradley; four sisters, Dr. Joan Crouse, Carol Kern, Susan Way and Catherine Russell; one brother, John Langenfeld; two grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Guestbook

  1. I am so sorry for your loss! Bob will be missed, but is now at rest with our Lord Savior. Prayers for the family and friends!

  2. We offer our deepest condolences to Bob’s family and friends. We will miss seeing his warm smile. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and we hope you find peace in the coming days.

  3. Bobby, you made us smile every day when you walked through the door! You are missed every day and will not be forgotten.

  4. I am so great full for getting the chance to get to know Bob. Bob had/has such a gentle spirit. He will now get the chance to share his gentle spirit in Heaven with our Heavenly Father, God. Thank you God for giving us your son so that we can one day have eternal life with you. I pray for peace and understanding for all of his family and friends. Bob, you touched many hearts in this world and now you can touch the hearts of every soul in Heaven.
    We love you a lot!

  5. I am thankful that Bob was in my life for so many years. The enthusiasm that he had for caregiving and teaching will be sorely missed. He was a good friend and although I can’t be at the service, my prayers will be with all those who loved him.

  6. I am so sorry for the loss of a very kind, caring, and wonderful young man. That was Bob! He was a gentle soul who I knew and liked since he was 10 years old. Our paths crossed less as we both got older, but every time we did get together at the family home or for a cup of of coffee (Joe as Bob called it) our conversations were filled with an openness and straightforward honesty. I loved learning from Bob about his work helping people with special needs. He respected who he helped. I sensed that they respected him. I will always remember Bob for who he was, a young beautiful soul, who I am sure will be missed by his wife, his family, his clients, and all who interacted with him. May he be eternally blessed!

  7. I knew Bob through my ex husband. Meet him at powerlifting competition. He was a very kind giving man. May he rest now in peace.

  8. Dear family,

I am deeply saddened by the grief that you are feeling.
Knowing of God’s love for you, continue looking to him when ” he will wipe all tears from our eyes, death, pain, and suffering will be no more. ” – Revelation 21:3,4
He says death is an ” enemy that will be brought to nothing. – 1 Corinthians 15:26
How comforting to know that this will be a thing of the past and through Christ Jesus a resurrection for our loved ones.

    love from a stranger,

  9. You are loved and missed, Bob! Shedding a million tears for you, my friend. Remember: He rose again 3 days later, the tomb was empty. We get to see you again some day, because he defeated death!
