Robert Scott McGlothlen, affectionately known as “Bob”, was called home to be with the Lord on April 24, 2022 at the age of 60. Bob was a beloved and devoted son, brother, father and grandfather. He was a man who had a deep faith in God and lived his life with integrity and purpose. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and all those who knew him.

Bob was born on January 15, 1962 in his hometown of Hobart, Indiana and grew up with a love for nature, mechanics, and carpentry. His talent and passion for these skills led him to become a respected and recognized professional and craftsman in his community. Bob was a very hardworking and driven man who dedicated 25 + years to working at and retiring from Rockwell International/Meritor in Fletcher, NC.

Bob had a gentle, caring, compassionate and considerate personality. He had an authentic heart of gold and frequently put others before himself. He was a devoted father of his two children and a doting grandfather to his three grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and happiness.

Bob’s love for Jesus was evident in all aspects of his life. He prayed often and found great comfort and strength in his relationship with God. He would regularly share his devotion and recognition of the Lord’s grace and mercy with friends and strangers alike.

Bob was a genuine neighbor and friend to many. A resident of the Oakley area for over 40 years, he was always willing to lend a helping hand and remained mindful when offering his expertise and advice. Bob’s kindness, generosity and spirit of service touched the lives of many people and his memory will continue to be a source of inspiration for those who knew him.

Bob’s passing is a great loss to his family and community. He will be remembered as a friendly and talented man who loved his family deeply and lived a life of purpose through his faith. His legacy will live on through the memories he has left behind and the lives he has touched.

Rest in peace, Dad, Papaw, Bob. You are deeply missed and are always in our back pocket. We are all thankful to have had you in our lives and we all love you very much.
