Arden ~ Robert "Bob" Benjamin Wine, 69, of Averys Creek Road, Arden, died on Saturday, August 2, 2008 in a local nursing facility.
He was born in Rockingham County, Virginia and was the son of the late Ray and Wilma Stayner Wine. He was preceded in death by a son, R. B. Wine in 2002. He was a US Navy Veteran and worked as the maintenance supervisor at Hubbell, Walker and Asheville Industries. He was an avid outdoorsman, fond of fishing and hunting. He was a member of Averys Creek United Methodist Church and was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend to all.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kay Kagey Wine of Arden; a son, Keith Wine of Irmo, SC; one grandson Corey Wine; a sister, Phoebe Amos of Syracuse, NY and a brother, Bill Wine of Broad-way, VA.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday at Averys Creek United Methodist Church with the Rev. Warren Owens officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the burial in the church.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Averys Creek United Methodist Church, 16 Fullam Drive, Arden, NC 28704.

Mrs. Wine i only met your husband two times but to see how well Keith turned out as a father and the fantstic relationship that he had with his dad inspires me everyday to live the way your husband did. he was a great grandfather to Corey as i would listen to his stories and his love for his granddad. I truly am sorry for your loss but i know he is in heaven and that gives me joy just like i know it does for your family as well. I remember Bob from when I was very young and he was friends with my dad (Ralph Gilreath) when they both worked at Walker. He was always so sweet to me and I remember my dad always enjoying seeing him when he’d come out to our place in Fairview. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
