Robert Ellsworth Christopher, 86, of Asheville, died Sunday, July 16, 2017.
A native of Buncombe Co., Robert was a son of the late Robert and Ona Pettit Christopher. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Hamlin Christopher, brother, Dale Christopher, and sister, Polly Christopher Heaton.
Mr. Christopher was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and worked in research for American Enka.
Surviving are his daughter, Barbara "Bobbie" Venos (the late Ted Venos); sons Steve Christopher and wife Wendy, and Tim Christopher and Roger Wilson; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Reeves Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Johnny Samms will officiate.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

I am so sorry about Bob. We are out of town. Please know you will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Very sorry for your loss. I loved Bob & Ruth to pieces. I used to put new shelf paper in their kitchen cabinets and they told me all kinds of stories. I will always have fond memories of them.
Bob was a wonderful man who loved his family, especially Ruth. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
