Resided in: Biltmore Lake, NC

Robert George Piotrowski, 71, passed away on April 9, 2020. Born in Homestead, PA, Bob was son of Stanley and Ann Guidish Piotrowski.

Left to remember and retell all the “dad stories” are his wife Judy, of 47 years, daughter Jill (Matt) Reiswig of Eagan, Minnesota, daughter Amy of Vernal, Utah, daughter Beth (Matt) Abel of The Woodlands, Texas, and daughter Ann of Saluda, NC. “Grandpap stories” will be cherished by grandsons Peter and Leo Reiswig, grandsons Warner and Jude Abel and granddaughter Helen Reiswig. Also left with stories of growing-up together are brother Stan (Liz) Piotrowski and sister JoAnn (Matt) Neice.

Bob grew up in Falls Church, Virginia, got his undergraduate degree from University of Dayton, Ohio, and his Master’s Degree from Duke University. He served in the US Army, stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. During his career as a petroleum geologist, Bob worked for Amoco and Marathon Oil Companies as well as the Pennsylvania Geologic Survey as its Oil and Gas Chief.

Bob enjoyed the nomadic life of being a geologist, living in over a dozen cities, in the US and abroad, exploring new places and meeting new people. But he was happiest to choose for himself, to live in Asheville, when he retired. He loved spending time with his family and doing a little “porch-sitting” so he could visit with neighbors as they walked by.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to University of Dayton, home of his beloved Flyers.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Deepest condolences. We will miss Bob’s sense of humor. His presence will live on in everyone’s memories.

    • JoAnn, I am so sorry for your loss. Your brother was a good man. I have fond memories of him, and growing up on McIntosh with you and your family next door. He was very patient with us when we wanted to use his brand new stereo equipment and records! I’ve been trying to locate you and found a possible number for Rachel; if you get a message from her about me. Luv, your childhood friend, Joanie M.

  2. Fond memories of bonding over our love of pate together and “A night before Christmas” reading after eating pierogis during a Polish Christmas Eve. My prayers are with you and praising God he is dancing on the streets of heaven!

  3. Judy and family, We learned of Bob’s Passing yesterday and want to offer our deepest sympathy to you all.
We are so very sorry to hear this news. I didn’t know Bob well but I do remember his warmth when I stopped by after we had moved in down the street. This loss is compounded for you all by the times right now. Know that our hearts and prayers are with you. Kathleen and Jack Healy

  4. Bill and I were some of his honored friends to sit with Bob and Judy on his porch and tell hysterical stories. In so many ways our lives were intertwined. We will miss you Bob and we send our heartfilled LOVE to the entire family. Love the Winterhalters
