Robert "Sam" Worley, 78, of Dix Creek Rd., Leicester, died Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Pisgah Manor.
Mr. Worley was born in Haywood Co., and lived in Buncombe Co. his whole life. He was a son of the late Lewis Jack and Della Greene Worley. He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Worley.
Mr. Worley was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked as a Pipefitter Welder of Local 421 for 51 years. He was also a devoted farmer in the Big Sandy Mush community.
Mr. Worley is survived by his wife, Dorothy Farlow Worley; daughter Kimberly Worley Brank; step-sons Jeffery and Craig McKinney; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 nephews; 1 niece; and best friend Jo Ben Surrett.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with the Rev. Enoch Ball officiating.
His family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

I will never forget Sam and Dot’s kindness after my parents died and letting me live with them and to be able to go back to school. He was a father figure to me as well,fixing my car if it needed it…feeding me and keeping a roof over my head in a most uncertain time in my life,I thank God for Sam and I know God had placed me in Sam and Dot’s path and I am a better person because of them!I will Sam very much,but rejoice in knowing I will see him again!
Papaw Im sure gonna miss you.. Your were the most important man in my life..My mentor, my father, and my confidant. I was always your little girl and I adore the time I had with you. We had a special connection that no one can ever replace. I hope your up there giving my Grandma Worley lots of hugs and kisses and a few for my daddy. Life will not be the same without you in it. Your always in my heart and Im honored that you were my Papaw. I love you to the moon and back.
Jeff,Craig and dot, I am so very sorry for the loss of Sam. I have a lot of memories of all of you, and I will be praying for all of you. God bless .
