Roger was a great guy, fun to be around . taught me how to play baseball as I was on his team. I also worked for him delivering and spent a lot of time around him. Will miss him dearly
Roger was what I called one of the Ole boys! One of kind! I remember him stopping by the house from time to time sitting on the back porch just to talk a spell. He was always helping so many & doing for others. Most the time putting him self & his family in a bind to help others & never complaining. I had respect for Roger & even more for Bertha for standing by her husband that had such a love for ball & youth. He’ll be missed by so many! Praying yall!
I have known Roger for many years. We played high school baseball for Mahlon H. ‘Cotton’ Bagwell at Erwin in the early seventies. As I look back, Roger and I had a great time on a always competitive warrior team. Roger was two years ahead of me but we were both catchers and worked with each other during practice. He loved the game and worked hard to be the best that he could be. Always a competitor, it is hard to believe he is gone. Maybe Roger and Cotton will save me a place in the dugout. May God Bless you and your family.
Roger was a good friend of mine back in 1970 and 1980. Played many a ball game with him. One of the good guys who gave to everybody .

Roger was a good person and was a good brother-in-law even though he was more like a brother. I remember when Bertha first met him and I initiated him into the family by putting straight pins in his chair. He was OK with that thought it was funny. He always joked around with me and I will miss that. He will now be in no more pain and will be with his Father, our Mom , Dad , Tommy, Johnny and many others in Heaven. He will be missed.

Roger was a Good Friend who gave over 30 years of his life to the kids in our community as Commissioner for The Erwin Youth League. He literally lived at the Ball Field and worked tirelessly for the kids. As a District Manager for the Newspaper Roger ran a route in my district, leaving the ball field at midnight and getting up to run his route at 3 A.M. he spent most everyday exhausted and fatigued. Rest in Peace my Friend, May God surround you with his Love and Peace.
Love and Prayers to Bertha and Roger Jr. May God comfort you with the assurance that Roger is in The Lords presence and is finally at rest. May God Bless you both.

From playing semi-fast softball to going to Six Flags together we had some great times. He was a good friend and was the same person every day of his life.I know if there is Little League baseball in Heaven, we all know who will be there helping out.
