Ronald Eugene Kennedy

Ronald Eugene Kennedy, 78, of Fairview, died Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Flesher's of Fairview Health Care Center. Mr. Kennedy was a native of Ohio, former resident of Michigan and Miami, FL, and a resident of Asheville since 1978. He owned and operated Ron's Refrigeration. Mr. Kennedy was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, and was an accomplished steel guitar player, performing with several area bands. He was also a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Asheville. Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his mother, Ernestine Kennedy, and step-father, Terry Kennedy. Surviving are his daughter, Barbara Fields and husband Mitchell; son, Wade Kennedy; grandchildren, Nicholas Glenn Fields, Christina Ann Fields Coleman, Nicole Kennedy, Jennifer Kennedy, and Jonathan Kennedy; great granddaughter, Brooklyn Coleman; and sister, Donna White. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Trinity Baptist Church of Asheville, with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Sexton, Jr., and the Rev. Allen Rash officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be private. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
