Ronald Herbert Smith

Ronald Herbert Smith, 73, died Thursday, March 23, 2017, at his home. Born in Asheville, Ronald was a son of the late Archie and Gelene Burleson Smith and was also preceded in death by brothers, Don Burleson and Jerry Smith. He began his career with Western Electric and more recently owned the Candler Feed & Seed and Smoky Mountain Pressure Seal. He is survived by his daughters, Laura Ann Smith and Sherry Elaine Dickerman; son, Michael Justin Smith; grandson, Aaron Dickerman; sisters, Gail Crawford, Gwenda Phillips (Royce), Christine Hagood, and Donna Smith; brothers, Lanny Smith, Tony Smith (Laura) and Wayne Smith (Dawn), and a number of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the mothers of his children, Janet Metts and Margaret Gatlin. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Thurman officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
