Roy Reynolds Plemmons, 89, of Heather Way, Candler, died on Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at his home.
A Buncombe Co. native, Mr. Plemmons was the son of the late Calvin and Lavada Reynolds Plemmons. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Maude Higgins Plemmons.
Mr. Plemmons was retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a US Army veteran of WW II in Germany. He was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church.
Mr. Plemmons is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Sluder, of Asheville, and Linda Gaffney and husband David, of Alpharetta, GA; three grandchildren, Shawn Sluder, Erin Sluder, and Bryan Sluder and his wife Marilyn Sluder, and six step-great-grandchildren, David, Beth, Anna Marie, Maile, Malana, and Arwynn Gaffney. He is also survived by one sister, Reva Sue Large, of Bethlehem, PA.
The family wants to especially thank Mrs. Millie Bryan, his best friend and companion, who cared for him until his death.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. James H. Johnson officiating.
His family will receive friends 12-1:30 p.m. Saturday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave.

We are thinking of you with Sympathy and sharing your sorrow in the loss of one who meant so much to you. Roy was a great friend to my aunt and to me as well. I enjoyed working around in his yard and sitting and talking to him. he will be greatly missed by all.
