Ruby Lee “Cupcake” Smith, 92, formerly of Gillespie Heights, Leicester, died Saturday, July 8, 2006, at Hominy Valley Retirement Center.
Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late
Alverce and Josephine Shoft. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Smith, who died on June 24, 1993.
Mrs. Smith retired from Picadilly Cafeteria. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church and a past member of Oak Crest Baptist Church in Greenville, SC.
Surviving is her daughter, Sherry Elaine Morrow and her husband Clarence R., of Leicester.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Glenn Reid officiating.
Her family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
SHERRY I’M SORRY ABOUT YOUR MOM. I WOULD LOVE TO COME TO THE RECIEVING OF FRIENDS BUT I HAVE ANOTHER ENGAGEMENT I HAVE TO BE AT. MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND HELP YOU THROUGH THIS. TAKE COMFORT IN THE FACT THAT RUBY IS NOT SUFFERING NOW. I ENJOYED THE TIMES I GOT TO DO HER HAIR. I LOVED HER AND SHE LOVED ME. I’M HERE FOR YOU IF YOU NEED ME.
