Asheville, N.C. ~ Ruby Anderson, 83, of Asheville, died Monday, at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. Born in Arden, North Carolina, Mrs. Anderson resided many years in Tennessee and Massachusetts, but returned to North Carolina, living the last 16 years in Asheville. The daughter of the late Paul N. and Helen Lance Page of Arden, she is survived by her son, Timothy Anderson and sister, Opal Crymble, both of Asheville. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her baby sister, Pearl Edith Page and her husband of 40 years, Phillip Anderson. Mrs. Anderson graduated from Bob Jones University, Greenville, South Carolina, with degrees in elementary education and taught second grade for over 10 years at the Rivermont School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In 1965, Mrs. Anderson married her late husband, Phillip, of Amherst, Massachusetts, and resided in Hadley, Massachusetts for nearly 30 years dedicating her life to her family as a loving mother and devoted wife. In 1995, Mrs. Anderson and her husband moved to Asheville where she enjoyed her last years in the company of her family and childhood friends. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian in Arden, conducted by the Reverend Randy Melton followed by a visitation period for family and friends. A burial service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that gifts be made in the memory of Ruby Marie Anderson to the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center of Asheville, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is in charge of arrangements.
