Russell Brown Shook

Russell Brown Shook, 86, died Sunday, June 2, 2002. Mr. Shook was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and was the son of the late William M. and Gertrude R. Brown Shook. He was a member of Montmorenci United Methodist Church. He is survived by two sisters, Mariam Thrash of Candler and Jo’ Drake and her husband Lee of Pensacola, FL; one niece, Susan Oates of Charlotte; and four nephews, Gary Drake and his wife Sue Ellen of Candler, Tom Drake and his wife Florence of Dallas, TX, Bill Oates and his wife Pam of California and John Oates and his wife Nancy of Colorado. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Daniel J. Lyons officiating. Burial will be at Bell United Methodist Church Cemetery. His family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and request that memorials be made to Montmorenci United Methodist Church, PO Box 610, Candler, NC 28715.
