Ruth C. Beauchamp

November 10, 1920 ~ December 23, 1998
Mrs. Beauchamp was born in Robbinsville and was a daughter of the late Joshua and Nan Howell Crisp. She was a graduate of Graham County High School and of Blanton's Business College. She worked as a medical secretary in the office of Dr. Sam Crow for 35 years.
She was a member of Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church and the Keenagers, and a member of the VFW Auxiliary where she served as Chaplain and program chairman. She volunteered at both St. Joseph Hospital and the VA Medical Center and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 12. Mrs. Beauchamp was an active member of the Home Demonstration Extension where she tutored and was a reader with children and was on the Home Visitation Committee. She was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Woodfin Community Center.
She is survived by her husband, Dewey W. Beauchamp; a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Norris B. Jeffrey of Seattle, WA; a son, Danny W. Beauchamp of Arlington, VA; three sisters, Grace Carter, Mary Lake, and Bobbie Bates, all of Canton, OH; two brothers, Delmas Crisp of Canton, OH and Gene Crisp of Dallas, TX; and two grandchildren, Bradley Jeffrey of Seattle and Jana Jeffrey Mellon and her husband Douglas of Redmond, WA.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Monday in the chapel of the Western Carolina Veterans Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Bigham officiating. Burial will be in the Veterans Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gordon Prutzman, Phil Presley, Ron Moore, Harry Howell, and Leland Blankenship.
Her family will receive friends from 3 - 5 pm Sunday at Groce Funeral Home.
She was a wonderful person. We will miss her greatly.
