Ruth Duckett Marler, 77, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018, at St. Joseph Campus, Mission Hospital. Born in Buncombe County, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William R. "Bill" Duckett, Sr., parents, Edgar Lee and Lillie Davis Crigger; sisters, Martha Simmons and Dot Pressley, and brother, Rueben Crigger. Mrs. Marler worked her professional career as an LPN, primarily in geriatrics, associated with Pisgah Manor, Aston Park, Hillhaven and Western Carolina Baptist Home. She was a long-time member ot Pole Creek Baptist Church, where she was active in the Rest Home Ministry (Senior Adult Singers). She is survived by her husband, Johnny Marler; daughter Debbie Rogers (Larry); son William R. "Bill" Duckett, Jr.; grandchildren, Josh and Jacob Rogers; special granddaughter, Hannah Johnson; sister, Evelyn Parker (Bill) and a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Dennis Thurman and Ben Heise officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to "Impact Tomorrow Together", Pole Creek Baptist Church, 96 Snow Hill Church Road, Candler, NC 28715.

  7. To Ruth’s Family,
    I was a nurse with Ruth for several years, at Aston Park HCC. She was a joy to work with, always kind and caring to every one. Always smiling and able to cheer up anybody who was having a bad day, regardless if they were a resident or co-worker. I was shocked to read about her passing. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. Cherish your memories. You know she is with Bill and will be celebrating Christmas up in Heaven. I understand your grief as I lost my mama 2 years ago. Again my condolences to you.

  8. Bill, I am very sorry for the loss of your Mother I know you loved her dearly and she knew you loved her you were by her side through her sickness. She is in Heaven with no more suffering….what a blessing to have that assurance. My prayers are with you and your family in this difficult time.
