Ruth L. Melton

Mrs. Melton was born in Henderson County and was married to Kit H. Melton, who died in 1979. She was also preceded in death by a foster daughter, Wanda Jones Barger.

She was employed as a cook in the lunchroom of public schools and was a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church, where she kept the nursery for many years.

Mrs. Melton is survived by a foster son, Danny Jones of Candler; a sister, Mary Testerman of Tampa, FL; a brother, Charles Lanning of Asheville; six foster grandchildren and one foster great- grandchild.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 am Monday at Oak Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Norman Hubbard officiating.

Pallbearers will be Michael and Dale Jones, Dan Wilson, Scott Parham, Brent Parker and David Webb.

Mrs. Melton will remain at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue until being placed in Oak Hill United Methodist Church Monday morning where her family will receive friends from 10 - 11:00 am.
