Asheville ~ Ruth Schreyer Pennington, 85, died Sunday, November 9, 2003 at The Oaks of Sweeten Creek.
A native of Asheville, Mrs. Pennington was a daughter of the late Roy Schreyer and Vinetta McIntire Schreyer and wife of the late Don Pennington.
Mrs. Pennington attended Fletcher United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Judy Wayda of Peachtree City, GA; a stepson, Bruce Pennington of Lynn Haven, FL; seven step-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Griffin of Asheville and a brother, William Arthur Schreyer of Peachtree City, GA.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 - 8:00 PM at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road. No services are planned.

I only knew Ruth for a short time while I started working at the Oaks. I will miss her she was very sweet. I was there when she passed and it will never leave my mind. I am so glad I got to know her if even for a small time.
