Sadie Howell Brookshire, 89, of 54 Grandview Road, Asheville, died tuesday, September 5, 2000, at a local hospital.
A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Lee and Nettie Justice Howell. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Fred Brookshire.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Brookshire of Clyde and Linda Glass of Mililani, HI; a sister Genevieve Roberts of Canton; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Enka Baptist Church where she was a member. Rev. G. Scott Lynch will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Weslyan Methodist Chruch Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Groce Funeral Home Patton Avenue, is in charge of arrangements.

Thinking of you during this time. I have been there. I think it is one of the hardest things you have to go through.
Mary and Linda:
Just wanted you to know that we are thinking of you and saying a little prayer for you tomorrow. We know how difficult these times are. Ms. Georgia, who stayed with your mother some, is a neighbor of ours. She is also very amazing for her age. Hope everything goes well tomorrow for you.
Linda & Mary:
Your mother was always seen by me as a very special lady while I was growing up at Enka Baptist. Now she and my Mom have new bodies in Christ with no more pain. Praise God for His promise that we will get to join them some day. Knowing how much you will miss her I am lifting you and your families up in prayer at this time.
