Samantha Leigh Radford, 8, daughter of Janet King Radford and Charles Eugene “Gene” Radford, Jr., of 10 Holly Hill Court, Asheville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 5, 2001.

Samantha was born in Buncombe County and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. She was a second grade student at West Buncombe Elementary School. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Charles Eugene Radford, Sr., and Patsy Radford Dotson and Jesse Dal Dotson.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Esta Lee King and James Clifford King, both of Leicester; her maternal great-grandparents, Toney and Edith Plemmons of Spring Creek; a special aunt, Jessie Goforth; uncles and aunts, Donnie and Pam Frisbee, Lee and Mary Ellen Southard, Carlton and Suzette Radford, Gerald and Sandra Dotson, David and Greta Dotson, and Stan and Kim Dotson; cousins, Kelli and Stephanie Frisbee, Adam and Krystal Southard, Vanessa and April Radford, Kim Bradley, and Kris, Kregg, Kelly, Jessica, and Dana Dotson.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon Thursday at Beulah Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Johnny Tiller officiating, assisted by the Rev. Anthony Greene. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and at other times will be at the home of Esta Lee King, 3295 New Leicester Highway. Memorials may be made to the Transplant Fund, Carolinas Medical Center, Attn: Arlene Jacob, PO Box 32861, Charlotte, NC 28232. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is in charge of the arrangements.
