  1. To Sarah’s Family,

The word that comes to mind when I think of Sarah is faithfulness. I most remember her joy as she played the piano at church week after week, year after year. She would step aside when a pastor’s wife wanted to play and step back up to the plate when asked.

My mom, Irene Huffman Harwood, tells of Sarah being her Sunday School teacher when she was a girl. I feel truly privileged to have known her.

  2. Sarah’s Family, When I first met Sarah in 1952 she was the retail lending officer in Wachovia Bank’s West Asheville Office working with the late Fred Russell, Manager of that office. Until I was tranferred to Charlotte by the bank in 1962 we were in contact on a daily basis. Sarah was the same, cheerful, intelligent, loyal colleague every day and was an institution in the West Asheville area in many ways. At age 96 she lived a long and fruitful life and will be missed by all her friends. You have our sympathy but take comfort in knowing Sarah is now there near that Throne of Grace making intercession for all of us still here and waiting to welcome us home. Joe

  3. To the Family of Sarah – I will always remember Sarah playing piano at church my entire childhood. She always smiled at me and asked me how I was every Sunday. She served the church and loved the Lord and now she is with Him, I know. She was a fine woman, one to aspire to be like. I will miss her and hope that knowing where she is will comfort you and all who knew her and loved her.
