Sheila Camille Dalton died peacefully on Wednesday, July 20th, at home with her loving husband Randy by her side.

She was born in Buncombe County and was the daughter of the late Lillian Shook Laster and George W. Laster. She is survived by her husband, Randy Dalton. She and Randy enjoyed 44 wonderful years together.

Sheila was a graduate of Erwin High School and East Carolina University with a BS in Business. She worked for the Asheville Chamber of Commerce before becoming health care administrator for Highland Farms. She then served as financial and property manager for Dalton Electric.

Sheila was known for her beautiful sparkling and all-knowing eyes, ever-present wit and wisdom, and an exceptional ability to enjoy each and every day with a sense of wonder and gratitude. She was a woman of inspiring strength and vision, and was famous for her gracious southern hospitality often shared on her magical front porch.

She and Randy enjoyed traveling, and also building, remodeling and decorating homes. They were blessed and embraced by a big circle of friends and shared an abiding love for cats and dogs. Sheila had an appreciation for the rich Scotch-Irish history of WNC, and was an avid reader.

Memorial services may be held at a later date.

If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society.

Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting the family.

  2. Randy, I am so sorry to hear of Shelia’s passing. She was a special special lady who was always kind to me over the years and so gracious when I would visit your home. I am afraid I will be experiencing the same event as my wife Jane, has been diagnosed with Lung and Bone Cancer in the last three weeks
