Shelton Mark Surrett

Shelton Mark Surrett, 93, of 282 Sugar Creek Road, Leicester, died Friday, March 7, 2003, at the VA Medical Center. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Charles and Florence King Surrett and was also preceded in death by three sisters, Elsie Surrett, Pearl Hayes and Lassie Tatum and a brother, Gordon Surrett. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and a retired farmer. Mr. Surrett is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Woody Surrett; a son, Dallas Surrett and his wife Darlene of Leicester and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 5:00 pm Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Charlie Freeman officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00-5:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will be 11:00 am Monday at Paynes Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Chuck Vonhoff, John Ridgway, Neal Woody, Jason Woody, David Woody, Randy Turner, R.J. Blazer and Craig Worley.
