Shirley K. Early, 82, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, NC.
Shirley was born in Buncombe County, N.C. to the late Fred and Sarah Thompson. She graduated from Lee Edwards High School in Asheville and attended Winthrop College. Shirley had an extended career as an interior decorator working in Asheville, Charlotte, NC, Myrtle Beach, SC, and Florida. At the time of her death, she resided at the Life Care Center in Hendersonville, NC.
She is survived by children, E. Dennis Young III and Lisa K. Young; brother, John Thompson and wife Harriet; nephew, Michael Thompson; niece, Julie Thompson-Trent; and a grand-niece, Hadley Trent.
There will be a brief memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave., Asheville, NC.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Life Care Center in Hendersonville for their loving care and support.

I have know Shirley since we attended Vance elementary school, Hall Fletcher Jr High and then Lee Edwards Sr. High. Unfortunately we lost track of each other over the years but I never forgot what a sweet and lovely person she always was. Prayers to her family and may she rest in peace.
