Stanislaw Rys

STANISLAW RYS Stanislaw Rys passed away suddenly at his home in Asheville on June 23, 2009, at the age of 93. Born in Poland, he was a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Halka, son Adrian Rys of Edmonton, Canada, daughter Anne Armstrong of Toronto, daughter-in-law, Margaret Rys, son-in-law, Gary Armstrong. He has four grandchildren, Andrew Rys of Edmonton, Julia Rys of Ottawa, Graham Armstrong of Toronto and Kevin Armstrong of Cranbrook, British Columbia. Other surviving extended family members are his step-son Marek Halka, daughter-in-law, Kasia Halka, their children, Michal, Adam and Joanna, and Michal's wife Brittany, all of whom reside in the Asheville area, as well as his niece, Barbara Wdowiarz, her son, Maciej Wdowiarz and her daughter Agata Wdowiarz, all from Krakow, Poland. Funeral services will be held at 10 am, July 2 , at Groce Funeral Home, 1401 Patton Avenue, Asheville.
