Asheville Butterfly TrailA native of Clinton, IA, he was a son of Carroll Marvin and Mary Lea Messer Bahnsen. He retired from Deal Buick and was a former resident of Brevard.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Freda Ann Teel Bahnsen; two daughters, Maria Cooper and Sarena Burrell of Leicester; a sister, Andrea Lea Nieland of Hickory; a brother, Steven Carroll Bahnsen of Stockbridge, GA; two grandchildren, Jasmine and Chandler Burrell.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 pm Sunday at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Buncombe County Schools Foundation, 175 Bingham Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting the family.

I’m currently at South Pole Station, Antarctic, but my thoughts and prayers are with Bahnsen family.
I have very happy memories of my time spent with the Bahnsen family in Brevard. Stanley was a fine person with a great sense of humor and an inspiration.
I was so surprised and so sorry to read about Stanley. I was so glad to see him in Sept at Dad’s funeral. Condolances to the entire family and especially to Andy.
