Saluda ~ Stella Lewis Fox, 89, died Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at Autumn Care of Saluda.
Born in Clay County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Marvin Lee Lewis and Carrie Mae Davis Lewis and was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Fox in 1983 and six brothers.
She attended Asheville Normal Teachers College and retired from Sears and Roebuck Co. and later became involved in catering. She was a member and deacon of Calvary Baptist Church in Asheville, where she also taught Sunday school and was very active in foreign missions.
She is survived by one daughter, Nell Rita Hunt and husband Art of Mt. Dora, FL and a son, Gerald D. Fox and his wife Gloria of Landrum, SC; two grand-children, Lynne Givins of Campobello, SC and David C. Fox of Clinton, SC; two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Lydia Givins.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday in the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with the Rev. Dr. Buddy Corbin and Rev. Don Welborn officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Candler Center Building Fund, c/o Calvary Baptist Church, 531 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806 or to Hospice of Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, NC 28722.
Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road is in charge of arrangements.

Sorry to hear of your loss, As I remember your mom, she was great with the young teens, took us swimming, tried to instill christian values into our young lives.
I always think of her when I cook or bake with some of her wonderful recipes that I have saved threw the years.

I have been ad member of Calvary Baptist Church for many years and am not getting to atend regularly now because of health problems but I still like to keep up with my church family as much as I can and was sorry to read about her death in the newspaper. I send my sincerest sympathy to her family.
