Stephan Vance Hamilton, 59, of Candler passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2011. Born in Kansas City, Mo. He was the son of the late Jeannette Peck Hamilton. Steve was a US Army Veteran who served from 1970-1990. He also retired from the Charles George Veterans Medical Center in Oteen. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Beverly Graves Hamilton of Candler; two daughters, Beverly Gail Stephenson of Roebuck, SC and Stephanie Speer of Candler; three granddaughters, Jessica Morrow, Valerie Stephenson and Kathryn Morrow. A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Enka Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. Groce Funeral Home East Asheville on Tunnel Road is in charge of arrangements.
