Sterling will be missed. I hope his heaven is playing a perfectly tuned piano with fingers that never ache, hit each note with mathematical precision and ring out for all of time.

Dr. Sterling K. Berberian, 96, passed away quietly in his sleep Thursday, December 22, 2022, at the NC State Veterans Home, Black Mountain.
Born in Waukegan, IL, Sterling was the only child of the late Mardig Joseph and (Diana) Antoinette Shadko Berberian. He grew up during the depression, served in the Navy towards the end of WWII, continued his education through a PhD from the University of Chicago, and taught mathematics at Michigan State University, the University of Iowa, and the University of Texas. Sterling also published numerous articles and books on varied subjects in mathematics.
Dr. Berberian is survived by his wife, Carol Berberian; daughter, Susan Berberian; and son, Jim Berberian. He will be buried next to his father at Ames Municipal Cemetery, Ames, IA.
