Stuart Gregory Martin, 60, passed away May 10, 2022 at his home in Asheville NC.

Stuart was born August 1, 1961 in Asheville to Sandra W. Martin and the late Harry N. Martin Jr.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Nancy Busic (Jack), sister in law Charlene Martin and brother Andy Martin. There are also 3 nieces, 2 nephews and one great nephew.

Stuart graduated from the NC School for the Deaf and was employed by Harvest House and Asheville Parks and Recreation.

He lived with his caregiver, Betty Darity, who the family would like to thank for all her love and dedication for the past 22 years.

In his spare time he built legos, played computer games and collected M&M models. He was happy, cheerful and a hard worker. He loved to tease and had a special sparkle in his eyes . He will be missed.

An interment service will be held Tuesday, May 17 at 10:00 am at Lewis Memorial Park followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, Asheville. Visitation with the family will be held immediately after the service.

Based on his love and many years of participation, Memorial gifts can be made to the Buncombe County Special Olympics, 46 Valley St, Asheville, NC 28801.

  1. I remember Stuart very well from growing up on Inglewood Rd. I have a special memory of his Mom teaching us sign language that I remember to this day so we could communicate with him as young children. Please accept my sincerest condolences, prayers, strength, and love.

  6. I am so sorry to hear of Stuart’s death. For many years I was always happy to see Stuart at the Harvest House when I was there to dance. He was a hard worker and always had a pleasant smile and waved hello. I will miss seeing him there.
    My thoughts are with the family. I know he will be missed.
