Thelma Jarrett Hughes, 85, of Pisgah Highway, Candler, died Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at the Brian Center, of Weaverville.
A Buncombe County native, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Launa Jarrett and was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Smith Hughes, who died in 2000.
Mrs. Hughes retired from Dunham’s Music House as office manager, and was a member of White Rock Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Buckner and husband Vernon and Sharon Taylor and husband Steve; sister, Mary Jane Morgan, of Atlanta, GA; and two grandchildren, Shane Taylor and Jason Buckner.
Graveside services will be 3:00 pm Saturday at Pisgah View Memorial Park with the Reverend Greg Metcalf officiating.
Her family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 pm Friday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
My condolences go to the family of Mrs. Hughes. I worked for her at Dunham’s in the bookkeeping department over 40 years ago. He was a great person!
