Thomas B. Smith

A native of Towns Co., GA, he was a son of the late William Burton and Ruth Wood Smith. He retired from Bahnson Service Co. and operated his own remodeling and home repair business until retiring at the age of 82. He was a member of West Asheville Church of God.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ethel Stanley Smith; three daughters, Linda Smith of Daytona Beach, FL, Janice Carter and her husband Orville of Douglas, GA, and Gayle Riggs and her husband Al of Arden; one brother, Robert B. Smith of Sumter, SC; one sister, Willie Hix of LaFrance, SC; three granddaughters, Sheila Garoppo, Lorrinda Johnson and Lisa Riggs-Coffey; two grandsons, Brent Carter and Bender Riggs and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday at West Asheville Church of God with the Revs. Aaron Phillips, B.N. Black and Al Riggs officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends 7:00 - 9:00 pm Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue where Mr. Smith will remain until being placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service.
