Thomas Newton Holder, Jr.

THOMAS NEWTON HOLDER, JR. Thomas Newton Holder, Jr., 87, of Asheville, died Monday, July 28, 2008. Mr. Holder was a native of Buncombe County and was a son of the late Thomas Newton Holder, Sr. and the late Etta Mae Pope Holder. He was an Army veteran of WW II and was retired from WNC Tractor Co. He is survived by his wife, Helen Lyerly Holder; one daughter, Jan Miller and her husband, Ken, of Asheville; one step-daughter, Angela Carter and her husband, James, of Asheville; one step-son, Johnny Rogers and his wife, Lisa, of Alexander; eight grandchildren, Brian Miller and his wife, Tiffany, Brynna Miller, Jessica Carter, Jamie Carter, Brittany Rogers, Jonathan Rogers, Joshua Rogers and Kaytlynn Rogers; and two sisters, Ruth Brake of Asheville and Mary Lee Zibelin of Wellington, FL. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Dykes officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
