Thurman Lee McFee, 84, of Candler, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 4, 2018, at the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center.
Thurman was a son of the late John F. and Ethel Rash McFee. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jane Jones McFee; sisters, Emily Jamison and Legie Kelly; brother, Clifton McFee; and nephews, Ralph McFee and Larry Kelly.
Thurman was an avid deer hunter, belonging to the Canaan Land Hunt Club. He worked as a truck driver and long-time employee of Dave Steel.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Shope; daughters, Brenda Hastings (Bill), Kathy McFee, and Christa Shope Tipton (Lloyd); son, Mike Shope (Suzanne); three grandsons, Geoff Shook, Caleb Tipton, and Blake Shope; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mr. McFee will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Pole Creek Baptist Church, where Mr. McFee had been a lifetime member. Pastor Dennis Thurman, Rev. Dr. Johnny Tiller, and Executive Pastor Ben Heise will officiate. Interment will follow at Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
His family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.
