  6. Dear Hilda and Family,
I hope you haven’t forgotten me after so many years, and my heart breaks that you’ve lost Tommy. You and Tommy first welcomed me into your home more than 50 years ago when Terry was about 2 years old, and you and your family have endeared yourselves to me for a lifetime. This morning I was looking for the guestbook of a high school teacher who just passed away, and just as when I found little Tony and dear smiling Jim awhile back, there was Tommy, still handsome as ever.
I last spoke with Tommy some years ago when I thought my sister and I would be coming to Asheville. He told me you were out in the field on the tractor (I could just see you) but that you’d lost Mr. Farmer and Lee about 10 years before. I regret all of these losses to your family–and especially dear Mrs. Sally Farmer who made those great biscuits in her little red dishpan, and marshmellow fudge that I did finally learn to make. What a precious family you all are, and I know you cherish so many dear memories with many more to come. I seem to spend a lot of time nowadays looking for things I’ve misplaced, but my best and clearest memories include the old ones when all of us were young and everybody was still here.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, dear Hilda. I don’t know if I’ll ever get back to see you, but God Bless You and Yours Always.

    Nancy
