Valentin Nicholas Romanos, 76, of Asheville, died Thursday, June 22, 2006.
Born in Bucharest, Romania, he worked for the US Postal Service as a clerk for 30 years. Mr. Romanos was a US Army veteran of Korea and a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church. He loved to play the lottery and follow horse racing.
Beloved husband of 54 years of Barbara Oakes Romanos, he is also survived by three sons, George O. Romanos and wife Marlane of Pittsburgh, PA, Eric D. Romanos and wife Jackie of Asheville and Ted S. Romanos and wife Toni of Lakewood, CA; a daughter, Vicki O’Reilley of Sacramento, CA; five grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Autism Society of NC, Western Office, 239 S. French Broad Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801.

Thank you for always being like a second father to me. Although you may no longer be part of this world, I will do my best to insure your memory lives on through the actions of myself and your other grandchildren. I will never forget my Opa.
