Velma Moore Stamey, 86, of 485 Case Cove Road, Candler, formerly of Morgan Street, Candler, died Friday, November 23, 2007, at Pisgah Manor Nursing Center. Mrs. Stamey was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Earl and Lottie Parker Moore. She was married to the late Raymond C. Stamey. Mrs. Stamey retired after 43 years with American Enka and she was a member at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Surviving are her brother, Carroll D. Moore and his wife, Linda, of Candler; and several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Pisgah View Memorial Park with the Rev. Jim Moore officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum. Her family will receive friends at the chapel one hour prior to the service and suggest that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 2312 Smoky Park Highway, Candler, NC 28715, or to CarePartners Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.

Carroll and Family, I just got to know Velma about 1 month ago because my mom and her was roomates at Pisgah Manor, I enjoyed so many talks with her I wish I had know her many years ago, I would bring her a biscuit when I would bring my mom treats also, she was such a special lady,she will be greatly missed by my family also my 3yr old granddaughter had a special friendship with Velma. Caroll and Family, I am sending this thru my daughter but I miss Velma so much we got to be VERY good friends and had so many talks at Pisgah Manor she was such a good roomate and company to me,I wish I had known her many years ago,I will never forget the time we got to spend together but someday we will meet again in heaven.
