Violet Clarenda Stewart Jenkins died Friday, March 12, 2004, at Flesher’s Fairview Health Care Center.
Mrs. Jenkins was born February 25, 1913, in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Augustus Steven Stewart and Cora Lee Stewart. She was preceded in death by her husband Garland Onigh Jenkins who died in May, 1983, and by brothers Rueben, Grover, Ernest, Robert, Vernon and Everette Stewart and sisters, Florence, Evelyn, Dorothy, Lucille (infant sister) and Helen Stewart Blankenship.
She a member and Sunday School teacher at Riverview Baptist Church Baptist Church in West Asheville where her husband was pastor for 22 years.
Violet was a kind, caring and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, friend and neighbor to all. Her life was a testimony for others. The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff at Flesher’s Health Care Center in Fairview for all the love and support while caring for a very special lady. Now she is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Surviving are one son, Charles Allen Jenkins and his wife Dorothy Dills Jenkins, who was a caregiver and loving daughter-in-law, of Fairview; two grandchildren, Denise Jenkins Haney and husband Joe of Fairview and Dean Jenkins and wife Claudette of Fairview; and three great-grandchildren, Kyle Jenkins, and Rachel and Emeline Haney of Fairview.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Carroll Ingle and A.W. Jones officiating. Burial will be at Spring Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
We are so sorry to hear about Aunt Violet and send our most heart felt sympathies to you all. I’ll always remember how Aunt Violet made me feel so welcome into the family after Don & I were married. She will be truly missed. Cathy

We didn’t know Violet very well,but we heard a lot of good things about her from her great-grand children. We know she will be missed greatly. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

I am so glad that I was able to meet you, while Frances and Violet were roomates at Flesher’s. It was obvious how much you both loved Violet by your devotion and caring for her. You are in my heart and in my prayers.
